This was my first 5k since learning of my re-occurence just a few days before, so it holds some significance in that regard. More importantly, it was the first 5k that I got to run with Ashley since her return from London. Though we have a mutual understanding that we don't run together, It is a lot more enjoyable to attend these events with her, and do it together.
After we both finished and cooled down, we met up at Dunkin for coffee and a light breakfast, before going our separate ways.
Our next 5k is on October 6 in jacksonville. It is the ZERO prostate cancer run. I am looking forward to this one as well for obvious reasons.
We are also meeting up at the gym most mornings before work. Same rules apply. We are both there, but do our own thing, but there for each other.
Since my latest medical news, I am trying to make some preemptive moves and adjustments to my lifestyle to mitigate the side effects as much as possible. Running has been a goto exercise since I was first diagnosed. I think I ran a 5k every week while doing radiation, and regularly during my first bout with hormones. I continued even after treatments, but admittedly started slacking some due to a multitude of excuses - music, home life issues, and pure laziness. I definitely need to ramp things back up, and incorporate a good dose of strength training to boot. Not to mention the best part - some quality time with my daughter.

Peace out!
